The Big Picture

The Manager, IT is responsible for the overall coordination of high-level and detailed design deliverables, such as designs for LINUX servers, storage, and virtual environments, as well as system interfaces, in order to meet business objectives and specifications for major projects. Based on best practices, develops and defines system standards. To achieve the best potential performance, recommends system adjusting parameters. As appropriate, use specialist technical knowledge to advise other teams and suggest solutions to technical design problems in order to fulfill commercial objectives. Develops storage networking and storage provisioning solutions.

This position will be in charge of

  • Directly supervises at least two full-time exempt direct reports. Hiring, mentoring, skills development, recognition and awards, employee productivity, and performance management, including disciplinary actions up to and including termination, are all examples of management tasks.
  • Develops and implements policies and programs as needed; plans, organizes, staffs, directs, and oversees the department's day-to-day activities.
  • Develops and administers the department budget, as well as ensuring compliance and addressing budget deviations and other issues.
  • Makes budgeting suggestions for the strategic direction of the LINUX, VMware (ESX), Storage/SAN infrastructure to management and business units.
  • Develop and enforce standards for IBM AIX systems employing LPARs, VIO servers, and HMC installation, backup, recovery, and configuration. Design and implement system recovery solutions utilizing mksysb and mkdvd.
  • HPUX system design, installation, backup, and recovery. Create system recovery solutions with ignite.
  • RHEL systems should be designed and configured. System recovery methods can be designed utilizing technologies like satellite and jumpstart.
  • Sun Solaris design, installation, and configuration.
  • Create virtual environments and ESX servers.
  • Create a strategic storage system design. Create complex storage and SAN solution settings. Create technologies for storage replication.
  • Lead and/or assist with the resolution of complicated production issues involving system performance, network, and storage.
  • For capacity planning and reporting, collect performance and data usage statistics.
  • Document the LINUX, SAN, and Storage infrastructures and keep them up to date.
  • Create system security for LINUX-based platforms.
  • Create printing options.
  • For system recovery and disaster recovery, recommend and build operating system backup solutions

Education/Experience

  • 8 years of relevant experience and a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a similar subject.
  • Control span is at the departmental level or higher.
  • Experience in management is necessary.
  • 7 years of experience with LINUX, Storage, and BCDR technologies and methodologies is required.
  • Microsoft Office applications are second nature to me.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
  • The emphasis is on customer service.
  • Team player with a lot of potential.
