Job Description

The Enterprise PMO serves teams across United Airlines. The Project Manager is a trained, qualified professionals who can apply United's Envision Design Build Activate (EDBA) framework and Program Management Life Cycle (PMLC) methodology to various businesses. This will enable teams to deliver assigned portfolios, programs and projects with high quality, in a timely manner and with as-scoped benefits for our customers, frontline employees and supporting groups. Effective execution in this role is critical to achieving United's goal of leveraging Portfolio Management & Project Delivery Capability as a Strategic Enabler on Every project, with Every Team, and Every day. The Project Manager – PMO will deliver large/complex project(s) as assigned and serve as a change agent driving adoption of PMLC across the organization.

  • Lead and manage projects as assigned
  • Projects will be focused on both corporate and or operational functions
  • Lead and be responsible for directing the implementation of the planning, leading and directing of all aspects of assigned projects or set of projects/programs impacting the operation
  • Directly deliver high quality artifacts and outcomes through all phases of PMLC including Envision, Design, Build and Activate as needed to realize measurable business results
  • Facilitate and create process/system mapping and analysis to realize business needs
  • The Project Manager must keep all stakeholders informed and provide consulting at various levels including leadership
  • Assist team members and research operational and performance data to provide statistics, trends and reporting that inform leadership steering and decision-making teams
  • Guidance to adhere to the metrics as well as opportunities for improvement must be brought to light as projects are implemented

Required

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 4+ years of relevant experience
  • 3+ years managing projects, or demonstrated relevant experience
  • Demonstrated successful project delivery using fundamentals of PMBOK practices/methodologies
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, written communication and presentation skillsMicrosoft Suite -Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Vision and Project proficiency
  •  
  • Successful and demonstrable experience in:
    • Managing single or multiple, large, complex projects across multiple functions
    • Working within SDLC/PMLC and a track record of delivery
    • Proven expertise successfully managing business and technical resources under an integrated project plan to ensure the alignment of resources
    • Demonstrated experience delivering measurable business benefit through project execution
    • Demonstrated proficiency in facilitating, delegating and motivating cross functional groups or activities
    • Exposure with change management/facilitation, enterprise communication and training
    • Highly organized, and the ability to multi-task competing priorities, demands and timelines
    • Ability to manage business and technical resources with an integrated project plan
    • Provides input on strategic decisions to management as required
    • Expected to be creative to develop high-impact changes in processes or strategies
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

Preferred

  • Master's degree
  • Demonstrated successful execution using SDLC, PMLC, DMAIC or DFSS methodology
  • Project Management (PMI) Certification
  • Lean Six Sigma/certification
  • PMBOK
  • Airline experience preferred
