Description of the job

To give strategic direction and operational support to our highly advanced executive office suite, we're looking for an experienced media systems engineer with project management experience.

Candidate will join an elite team of specialists that assist in the staging of high-end executive events and support the technical operations of our highly advanced executive suite. The candidate will be the primary point of contact for technical operations in the executive suite as well as daily interactions with our Chief of Staff and C-level executives. To be effective in this profession, you must have great communication abilities and soft skills.

The Senior Media Systems Engineer is responsible for the Unit Head's and divisional leadership's project outcomes and goals. Other engineers assigned to the creation and maintenance of hardware and software-based media systems and projects in the covered domains may be required to directly supervise their work. Is directly responsible for sophisticated media communication and media information management servers, workstations, and systems' design, construction, installation, operation, maintenance, documentation, and repair. Develops proposals and collaborates with management to obtain necessary approvals. Works well with people from different departments. The senior media systems engineer will be responsible for one of the following areas within the Technical Services Unit: design and support of high-end workstations and associated systems utilized by the division in the creation of its goods and services. In the absence of a Lead Media Systems Engineer, will be in charge of overseeing daily operations support for the maintenance and enhancement of Technical Services Unit support core services in direct collaboration with the Mayo help desk. The senior media systems engineer will be responsible for one of the following areas within the Video Engineering Unit: design and supervision of audiovisual and videoconference equipment; supervision of the Mayo Clinic Video Network and the Video Master Control Center; or supervision of the Mayo Clinic Television Network and Video on Demand systems.

This position will be based in Rochester, Minnesota, and will likely need some travel.

Qualifications

A Master's degree in advanced media engineering or IT-related program(s) and a minimum of three (3) years' professional experience in management information systems, broadcast, post-production, or audiovisual facilities engineering design and technical operations; OR a Bachelor's degree in information systems or media communications engineering and a minimum of five (5) years' professional experience in management information systems, broadcast, post-production, or audiovisual facilities engineering design and technical operations.

  • Communication, organizational, problem-solving, and facilitating skills have been demonstrated.
  • Knowledge of MS Office and Adobe programs utilized in the Creative Suite is required. Working knowledge and expertise with AutoCAD or a comparable program. Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with website design and coding. Must have experience with non-linear editing systems and streaming video/web based video concepts in a video production environment. Experience with portable storage editing solutions is required. Experience with a variety of professional/broadcast video formats is required. Must be conversant with server, workstation, and other essential infrastructure maintenance, repair, additions, adjustments, and general upkeep. The incumbent must have demonstrated project management skills, including the ability to coordinate inventory and maintenance records on equipment and parts, as well as the ability to restore, maintain, and back-up required servers or systems. Installation, maintenance, and testing of various types of network and video interconnections are required. To assist in the implementation and activation of electronics and hardware to support enhanced services, you will be required to assist. Must be competent to troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical devices. Electrical schematics must be able to be created and interpreted. The incumbent is required to work a variety of shifts and be available on call as needed. Because the incumbent will be working with people at all levels of the organization, he or she must have excellent oral and written communication skills. At all levels of the organization, the incumbent must have a proven ability to develop and nurture interpersonal and interdepartmental relationships. Must be self-motivated and capable of working alone.
  • Prior employment experience in the healthcare technology field. Management experience with both proprietary and vendor-supplied programs. At any given time, the incumbent must be able to handle multiple projects directly and have working knowledge of many more. In a constantly changing environment, you must be adaptable. It's crucial to have a positive, upbeat mindset when it comes to customer service.

Certification or a license

Microsoft Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified System Engineer, and/or Microsoft Certified Network Engineer are all desirable certifications. SBE, NCTI / SCTE Broadband Distribution Specialist (BDS), or CCNA certifications are recommended. If you're working as a project manager, you should have a certification from the Project Management Institute.

When employment offers are extended, education, experience, and tenure may be taken into account, as well as internal equity. Based on a full-time position, the minimum wage for two weeks is approximately $3,496.
